Mazatapec is a landrace of the Psilocybe cubensis family that has been used for spiritual, ritualistic, and medicinal purposes for centuries by the Mazatec people in and around the Sierra Mazateca region of Oaxaca, Mexico. This variety has also been reported to be found in other parts of Central America. Mazatapec mycelium is tough and aggressive, making it great for beginner researchers, and Mazatapec fruits reportedly have a light brown or caramel-colored cap, with a distinctive wavy shape that sets them apart from other strains of cubensis.
